Online classes, internships, and games
A few things from university, work, and the ranked queue.
I started at Waterloo in 2020, which meant university began online. I had to figure out a study routine before I’d even made it to campus. I later moved to Canada, then to the US for UIUC.
A few very different internships
My internships have involved wireless-device testing and skate-blade profiles in Canada, battery charging in Dalian, and quant development in Shanghai.
Each came with a different set of things to get my head around: device logs, blade profiles, charging currents, market data, and orders. Those details stick with me more than job titles. The full timeline is in my résumé.
And quite a few ranked games
I’ve played CrossFire, CS:GO, and a lot of League. My peaks were Global Elite in CS:GO, Challenger on CN, and Grandmaster on NA.
I like winning, and losing usually makes me queue up again. Sometimes I’ll still be thinking about a bad push after the match is over. Mostly, though, I play because it’s fun.
